President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s Brother From Sri Lanka Has Resigned From Parliament

Colombo: The brother of Sri Lankan President and former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said on Thursday that he had resigned from parliament, the second of an influential family who had left the government amid a severe economic crisis.

“From now on, I will no longer be involved in government activities, but I can and will not leave politics,” Rajapaksa told reporters.

Gotabayi Rajapaksa’s older brother, Mahinda Rajapaksa, resigned as prime minister last month after lengthy protests against the economic crisis.
